During the upcoming BMW “Neue Klasse” (Next Generation) car launch, the company will be the first to use Amazon Web Services (AWS). The car will generate three times the amount of data that current vehicles generate, and BMW will be the foundation for the “next generation” of auto industry technology. Moreover, the company will provide training for over 5,000 employees in the latest technologies from AWS.
BMW Neue Klasse will generate three times the volume of data compared to current vehicles
During the IAA Munich auto show in September, BMW Group CEO Oliver Zipse announced that the company will develop a platform named “Neue Klasse” to support its future lineup of electric vehicles. The new platform will be used to support a range of vehicles including full electric midsize models, high-performance models, and luxury sedans.
The first BMW to feature the new architecture will be the next-generation 3-Series. This model will include a full-electric version as well as a plug-in hybrid version. The new platform will be designed to accommodate a quad-motor setup that will produce 1,360 horsepower. The company has also said it will be possible to add more power to the flagship model.
The new BMW platform will also feature a new software architecture and a new level of sustainability. The company expects the new platform to process three times as much data as current vehicles, and will integrate software from Amazon Web Services (AWS) into the platform.
BMW will provide training for over 5000 employees in AWS’s latest technologies
Earlier this year, BMW announced that it is partnering with Amazon Web Services in a bid to accelerate innovation across its global business. The two companies will work together to develop cloud-based IT solutions that will increase sustainability, operational efficiency and agility. In addition, the two firms will train and upskill over 5,000 employees in AWS’s latest technologies.
As part of this collaboration, BMW will be migrating its core IT systems to AWS’s cloud. The firm claims that this move will increase business agility and improve decision making. In addition, the two companies will work together to revamp production processes and incorporate data analytics into decision making. This will help the BMW Group to innovate and deliver new customer experiences.
BMW has also committed to building a cloud data hub, a company-wide data lake that will unify the full picture of its operations. It will provide employees with a unified overview of business processes, allowing them to optimize planning across sales, manufacturing and maintenance. In addition, the hub will leverage machine learning to comply with regulations and design new vehicles.
BMW will be a foundation for the “next-generation” auto industry technology
Earlier this year, BMW announced a significant investment in North America, along with plans to boost the speed of EV deliveries. The company is investing $1.7 billion in US operations, including a new battery plant in Woodruff, NC.
In the third quarter of 2016, the US EV market grew by 6%, demonstrating that the shift in consumer preferences is helping drive the EV industry. Other automakers have announced investments in North America, including Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz. This year, BMW i Ventures, BMW’s venture capital arm, increased its funding, which will allow it to invest more in the auto industry’s future.
As part of its strategy for the future, BMW is collaborating with a number of companies to introduce new technologies. It has also partnered with Intel and Mobileye, two companies that specialize in future-proof solutions for the auto industry. These solutions will allow driverless cars to come to market by 2021.
BMW also plans to create a new model, called the BMW i Next, to showcase the future of mobility. This model will be introduced in 2021, and will feature next-generation electrification technology and an advanced lightweight structure. It will also be the foundation of BMW’s autonomous driving strategy.
BMW will be the first automaker to use AWS
Earlier this year, BMW and AWS announced a strategic collaboration that will develop cloud software. This software will be used by BMW to develop a next generation cloud-based vehicle data platform. The new solution will accelerate the development of vehicle applications and life cycle management. It will also allow OEMs to easily integrate and manage vehicle data sources.
BMW’s “Neue Klasse” all-electric vehicle will be the first car to receive this new data processing service. This service will be available to other automakers in the future. The software will be based on AWS’s Automotive Industry Cloud. This cloud software will collect, manage, and distribute data generated by connected vehicles. It will also provide driver personalization features through over-air updates.
BMW Group is the world’s leading premium manufacturer of motorcycles and automobiles. The company has 31 production facilities across 15 countries. It sold 2.5 million passenger vehicles and 194,000 motorcycles in 2021. It has a workforce of 118,909 employees.
